Bagheera are powered by either 1200-cc 84-hp or 1400-cc 90-hp transverse-mounted, carbureted, inline-four engines, both of which were existing Simca units. A large-diameter crossmember at the rear cradled the 1,294-cc Simca "Poissy" engine, which produced 84 hp in the Bagheera. A four-speed transmission was the only choice offered. Later, Matra offered a larger, 90-hp 1,442-cc version of the Simca engine on the Bagheera S.

Matra had a long racing heritage, and even though the car was based on a lot of Simca parts, many features are only found in racing cars. For example the mid/ rear placed engine and the individually adjustable corner heights/ weights. I have owned and restored this car since 2006. It has been taken apart to its bare bones.
